Green Plains Inc., North America's fourth largest ethanol producer, has an immediate opening for a Scale Operator at our Atkinson, NE location. This position will run from mid September through December 2014.
Green Plains currently operates a total of twelve ethanol plants in six states. We also market and distribute ethanol for independent third-party ethanol producers, and operate grain storage facilities in a number of states. We are a growth company and we seek to continue our growth by adding grain storage facilities, ethanol plants, fueling terminals and more. This position will receive, weigh and test grain delivered to the company to ensure that the grain meets acceptable quality requirements to achieve optimal levels of ethanol production.
Scale Operator
Location: Atkinson, NE
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Inspect and grade all grain delivered to the Company to insure that grain is of acceptable quality and meets specifications as outlined in the purchase contract and reject shipments of grain not meeting standards.
Weigh all trucks coming into and leaving the plant and directing trucks to the proper location for loading/unloading within the plant.
Communicate with Production Department to ensure the timely unloading of products received.
Enter all customer and product data into grain receiving software.
Collect NIR samples as required from each customer, run daily composite tests and record data.
Keep area around the truck scale, administration building and scale room clean and presentable at all times.
Greet customers and visitors in a friendly and courteous manner and direct them to the appropriate individual if necessary.
Document and record daily truck volume.
Standard Operating Procedures contents for area as it develops
Provide customer service to farmers and elevators for bids and general questions.

Previous experience in grain receiving and grading
Ability to greet customers in a friendly manner
Attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple tasks
Ability to work with all levels of staff (co-workers and management)
Excellent Microsoft and Excel software skills
